Botong’s house and the street that paints him

Carlos V. Francisco — Botong — is National Artist for Painting. His ancestral house and studio sit on Doña Aurora Street in the poblacion. A highway bust and the Pista sa Nayon relief mark the way.

The Angono Street Gallery in Barangay Poblacion Itaas carved his pictures onto walls you walk. It is not a replica park. It is the town remembering in cement.

Give the house an hour. Then walk. The murals make more sense after you have stood in the rooms.
